Client Overview Report

Location: LEAP Menu > Reports > Matters & Clients > Client Overview

Purpose: Provides a financial summary of clients, tracking fees entered, amounts billed, and payments received, with optional matter-level details. It helps monitor client contributions, manage billing, and assess financial performance.

Important Notes:

  • The date range filter restricts results to matters opened within a specified period (less than one year). 
  • Financial figures reflect current data.
  • Results are automatically grouped by client, with an option to enable 'Expand Row Groups' for a detailed matter breakdown.

Report Filters:

Date Range

Displays all clients from matters opened within the selected date range. 

NOTE: The date range should be less than one year. 

Display

Includes two display options:

  • Include Items On Hold: This option controls whether 'Billable - Later Invoice' professional fee items are considered when calculating 'Fees Entered'.
    • No: Excludes 'Billable - Later Invoice' items.
    • Yes: Includes 'Billable - Later Invoice' items. 
  • Expand Row Groups: Adjusts the level of details displayed in the results.    
    • No: Client-grouped rows remain collapsed, showing only totals per client. 
    • Yes: Client-grouped rows are expanded, detailing a matter breakdown within each group. 

Report Fields:

ClientThe name of client, with results automatically grouped by client. 
Matter NumberThe matter number, with the column only displayed when a client-grouped row is expanded. 
Matter DescriptionThe matter description, with the column only displayed when a client-grouped row is expanded. 
Matter StatusThe matter status, with the column only displayed when a client-grouped row is expanded. 
Estimated Fees Ex Tax The matter's estimated fees exclusive of tax, as entered in the Accounting tab of the Matter Details window.
Estimated Disb. Ex TaxThe matter's estimated disbursements exclusive of tax, as entered in the Accounting tab of the Matter Details window.
Fees Entered Ex Tax

The total value of fees entered exclusive of tax, for the client or the matter. 

NOTE:

  • 'Fees Entered Ex Tax' includes professional fee items with a billable or billed status, excluding non-billable and deleted items.
  • Inclusion of fee items with the 'Billable - Later Invoice' status depends on the 'Inc. items on hold' setting. 
  • The amount is based on the amount shown in the professional fee window. 
Billed Ex Tax

The total value of all invoices created exclusive of tax, for the client or the matter. 

NOTE:

  • The amount includes billed professional fees and disbursements from both draft and final invoices.
  • It is calculated based on the billed amounts rather than the original values of professional fees or disbursements.
Received AmountThe total value of all Payments Received created on the matter, for the client or the matter. It includes:   
  • Payments Received applied to invoices 
  • Payments Received that created a Credit Note.
