Unable to Send Emails Due to Asterisk Being Added at the End of an Email Address

If you are unable to send an email because an asterisk (*) or star is being added to the end of email addresses, follow the steps below:

  1. In Outlook, click on the small arrow icon on the bottom right corner of the Save to Matter button. This will launch the LEAP Automation Options for Microsoft Outlook window.

  2. Under the General heading, untick the following: 

    • Clean Contacts Folder at Startup
    • Clear LEAP Suggested Contacts at Startup
    • Use Outlook AddressBook.

  3. Click Clean Now and Clear Now to manually clear the contacts.

  4. Click OK.

  5. Restart Outlook.

If asterisks still appear even after changing the settings in the LEAP Automation Options window, you will need to manually delete Address Book data from Outlook. Please refer to the following steps:

  1. In the Home tab in Outlook, click the Address Book button in the Find section. The Address Book window will appear.

  2. Use the search box to locate an entry that contains the relevant matter number in the format "Matter#1234".

  3. Double click the entry to open it.

  4. Delete any email addresses that have asterisks in them.

  5. Click OK and close all Address Book windows to confirm the changes.

After the Address Book data has been deleted, please try sending the email again.
