Previewing a Document

Learn how to preview and manage documents and explore intuitive features for efficient document navigation and editing in LEAP Desktop and Web.

There are two ways to preview a document:

Hover over the document in the Correspondence List then click .
Right-click the document in the Correspondence List then select Preview.

The document will open either in the:

Correspondence Preview

The document preview will open in a new window
Simply click a file from the left-hand pane to preview it.
Double-click a file in the left-hand pane to open it.

Preview Pane

The document preview will open within the matter window, on the right of the Correspondence List.
Select any other files from the Correspondence List to view within the Preview Pane.
Click Hide at the top to close the Preview Pane.

You can set your preference of which preview option you would like to use. From a matter, click the ellipsis icon and tick Use Preview Pane to select the new preview pane.

Some documents may not be able to be previewed if they contain special content or editing restrictions. However, if the document is printed to PDF and then re-imported into the matter, you will be able to preview it again.

Preview Toolbar Options

Icon	Option	Description
	Collapse/Expand	Collapse or expand all documents inside folders.
	Toggle Sidebar	Show or hide a sidebar for the right-hand side pane where you also have the option to display: Thumbnails Document Outline Attachments
	Search	Click the icon to display your search options. Tick the Highlight all checkbox for the results to be highlighted. Tick the Match case checkbox to only display case sensitive results. (e.g. Searching for "Test" will find "Tests", "Testing", "Tested" but not "test") Tick the Whole words checkbox to only locate whole words. Click the forward or back arrows to move between the search results. The number of matching search results is displayed after the Whole words checkbox. Click the Search icon again to hide the search options.
	Previous Page	Move to the previous page of the document or use the scroll bar.
	Next Page	Move to the next page of the document or use the scroll bar.
	Go to a specific page	Enter the page number of the document you want to go to.
	Zoom options	Decrease or increase the size of the document using - or +. Or select an option by clicking Automatic Zoom.
	Edit in Word	If you're previewing a Microsoft Word document and you'd like to make changes, click Edit in Word to open the document in Microsoft Word and edit the document.
	Share options	Click Share to share securely via LawConnect; or email the document in its original format (Email Original) or as a PDF (Email as PDF).
	Print	Print the document.
	Tools	Click this icon to access more toolbar options including: Go to First Page Go to Last Page Rotate Clockwise Rotate Counter-clockwise Text Selection Tool Hand Tool Vertical Scrolling Horizontal Scrolling Wrapped Scrolling No Spreads Odd Spreads Even Spreads

Please note the following for the Correspondence Preview window:

Created and modified dates are indicated in the bottom-left corner of the window.
Click the ellipsis button and untick Close Preview After Actions if you want the Correspondence Preview window to remain open after selecting Edit in Word or Share.

There are three ways to preview a document:

Click the document from the Correspondence List.
Hover over the document in the Correspondence List then click then Select Preview.
Right-click the document in the Correspondence List then select Preview.

The document will open in the Correspondence Preview window. From this window you'll be able to preview not only the file you've selected but any other files in your Correspondence List. Simply click a file from the left-hand pane to preview it.

Created and modified dates are indicated at the bottom-left corner of the preview pane.

Correspondence Preview Toolbar Options

Icon	Option	Description
	Search Correspondence	Search for any items in your Correspondece List.
	Expand/Collapse	Show or hide a sidebar for the right-hand side pane that displays your other items you can preview from your Correspondence List.
	Edit in Word	If you're previewing a Microsoft Word document and you'd like to make changes, click Edit in Word to open the document in Microsoft Word and edit the document.
	Email	Click Email to email the document in its original format or as a PDF by clicking the arrow then selecting Email PDF.
	Download	Click Download to download a copy of the document or as a PDF by clicking the arrow then selecting Download PDF.
	Print	Print the document.
	Zoom options	Decrease or increase the size of the document using - or +.
	Next Page	Move to the next page of the document or use the scroll bar.
	Previous Page	Move to the previous page of the document or use the scroll bar.
